PRIDE in Public Education

What Is PRIDE?

Since 1994, NJEA has conducted the PRIDE in Public Education campaign, a statewide effort to share the successes of public education with all New Jerseyans and build strong community support for and involvement in our public schools.

The LEA has been awarded several grants through Pride.

Our Pride Chair Jan Flanagan offers the following:

Hi All!!
PRIDE has been VERY busy this year!!  So far, this fall, we have participated in several events around town.
Thank you to the Linden Education Association for those elementary school planners!!!
Perhaps you assisted at the “Taste of Linden” event with us, or just supported the town’s event on your own.  The Kiwanis Club of Linden  has this fundraiser to raise scholarship money. LEA made a $500.00 donation, and was listed as a GOLD SPONSOR!  A wonderful crew came out and supported us, plus we were able to sample the delicious variety of food from local businesses!
Maybe you caught a glimpse of LEA in the Halloween Parade!  Do you know who headed out the regime??? Yes, our folks handed out tons of candy ~~ so much that they stopped halfway through the parade, and bought some more!!!
Soehl Middle School had two events prepared. Thank you to Mary Ann Grieco for her hard work and preparation. First, the Veterans from Linden were welcomed and acknowledged with a luncheon in their honor for Veteran’s Day.  Vets were given special commemorative pins, offered from the LEA and NJEA PRIDE.  Also, a Bullying Awareness event was held in mid-November for the parents and families of students.  Lovely magnets with 100 ways to Praise Your Child were given to attendees.
Finally, this year, as every year, Linden Education Association sponsored the Diamond Gloves Boxing event, presented by the PBA.
I would like to thank NJEA PRIDE for their support and funding of our events.  They help make these events possible.
If you have any ideas how PRIDE can give back to the community, please share with me.
Spring will be here before we know it.  We always would like fresh ideas.  If you have an idea for your school, or for the LEA to create or participate in, please let me know.
In the spring, as always, we will participate in LINCS walk. (you knew we supported this event, right? 😉  )
Thanks for taking the time to read this!!

Each year, we are sponsors of the LHS’s Project Graduation.  Last year, we designed a banner for LHS graduation.  Perhaps you saw it displayed at the Athletic Field.
